Our attendance is up on the Friday night Dinner and Dances. But, as we have been asking in the past, the Lodge needs help with the donations at the door. We have a big expense with the Bands. We try to have you what you want and who you want for entertainment. Please, if you like the bands and the dances, make a donation at the door. You will get a free drink same as the one you purchased when you first arrive. Please help us out. We may have to start charging per couple for the Dances and Dance Lessons.

We also still need a cooking team for Steak Night on the 3rd Friday of each month. Also we need more kitchen help, so if you would like to cook any Friday, contact an Officer or myself and we can fix you up. We also still need volunteers to help out at the Lodge on Wednesday mornings. If you can work any other day, check at the Lodge because there are crews out there working other days also.

We are going to start having some fundraisers for the Lodge and need all the members help with these functions. We are going to have to purchase some new deep fryers as well as a Hot Dog machine. These fundraisers will go for these purchases as well as other things that come up that we need. Most of the time we just have the same group of people doing all of these things, But you know, we are all members and this is our Lodge and it takes more than just a few to keep the pot perking. Come on out and give a little of your time. If each of us worked sometime, one person would not have to do it all. We need you, so come out and join in with those already working. Thanks to those who are participating already.

Your Governor, Byron

Senior Regent’s Letter

Well, finally some cooler weather is here. I know we all welcome some fall temperatures. With school starting back, everyone can get back to their regular schedules. We had the Star Recorders Fund Raiser on Sept. 23 and it was enjoyed by all, Marilyn Bordelon did a great job. I would also like to thank Francis and Skeeter for a terrific Community Service Banquet. They always do a wonderful job.

Coming up this month we have our Mooseheart/Moosehaven Chapter Night on Oct. 3. This will be our Christmas in October and everyone that attends is asked to bring a Christmas ornament for a gift. We will fill our little stockings with money for Mooseheart and Moosehaven and present them that night for remittance to designated places for Christmas. It will be great fun and our kids at Mooseheart and seniors at Moosehaven will really appreciate it. Our regular Business Meeting will be on Oct. 17. Then on Oct.28 we will have The Ways and Means Fund Raiser. We are going to have Roasted Turkey Sandwiches and Taco Soup. I know it will be really good. Also don’t forget the LOOM is having the Legion Celebration on Oct. 14-16. For any of you that have never been we have good food and lots of fun and laughs.

We still need those pictures for our Memorial Board. They do not have to be in their uniforms. Folks, I really thought this would have been a great way to honor our men and women members of our Lodge but so far we only have two pictures up there. So come on and get us those pictures.

Our Co-Worker for Oct. is Shari Gramm. She is really working hard for our Chapter and is always there to help. Plant a seed and watch it grow and go out there and create some interest.

The Co-Worker of the month for August was Judy Frasier. Once again I remind y’all to get those pictures to us for our Veterans Memorial Wall. Plant a seed and watch it grow and go out there and create some interest

Donna Futch, Sr. Regent

For Mooseheart, October is a very special month. October 27, 2011 is Mooseheart Founders Day. In honor of this day, Moose Charities is asking all members to help raise $100,000. To participate, you simply make a donation and put your name on an Endowment Fund Cradle Card. We will be posting these on the wall in the Social Quarters to show your support for our children at Mooseheart. Mooseheart was created by the Supreme Council in late 1912 by the approval of the purchase of 1,000 acres along the then-dirt surfaced Lincoln Highway, between Batavia and North Aurora on the west side of the Fox River, about 40 miles west of Chicago. Ohio Congressman John Lentz, a member of the Supreme Council, conceived the name "Mooseheart" for the new community: "This," he said, "will always be the place where the Moose fraternity will collectively pour out its heart, its devotion and sustenance, to the children of its members in need." So it was on a hot summer Sunday, July 27, 1913, that several thousand Moose men and women gathered under a rented circus tent toward the south end of the new property and placed the cornerstone for Mooseheart. The first 11 youngsters in residence were present; having been admitted earlier that month; the new students and a handful of workers were housed in the original farmhouse and a few rough-hewn frame buildings that had been erected that spring. Please show your support for Mooseheart by putting your name on one of the cradles. As always, see you around the Lodge.
