Can you believe only three months left in this Moose Year. May 1st will start the 2012-13 year. The Lodge is having two fundraisers with proceeds going to the Lodge. First, a Chili Cook-off and Pool Tournament on the 18th of Feb. starting at 2:00 pm. We will be serving the chili for $5.00, all you can eat, until the Chili, cornbread and crackers are gone. Sign up for the Chili Cook-off is on the Bulletin Board.
The second fundraiser will be March 10th. This is a Memorial Fundraiser for Eddie Nelson with the proceeds going to the Lodge in Eddie's name and memory. There will be a Horseshoe Tournament, (or Baggo's) Pool Tournament. We will be serving Chicken dinners with Potato Salad and Bar-be-que Beans at $5.00 a plate from 11:00 am til 5:30 pm. We will have our monthly Karaoke that same evening starting at 8:00 til closing. We will be giving away door prizes during Karaoke and a bottle toss, a lot of fun planned to suit everyone. I hope everyone will support both fund raisers. If anyone wants to help with one or both fundraisers, let me or one of the officers know.

See you at the Lodge. Byron, Governor

I hope everyone's New Year is going great. I know everyone enjoyed the AOF Dinner we had on January 27. Sharri Gramm did a wonderful job. The Co-Worker of the Month for the month of January was Casandra Bane. She is such a hard worker. She is on the Audit Committee and does a fabulous job. She is also the Ways and Means Committee Chairman. We really appreciate everything she does for our Chapter.
Coming up in February is the Valentines Day Dance. This is a fundraiser being held for the AOF Committee and Sharri has been working hard on this. There will be corsages that you can purchase for your sweeties or you can purchase them for yourself. These will be sold on a pre-order basis, so just get in touch with Sharri, Maggie or any of the other AOF Committee members. There will also be long-stemmed roses you can purchase on the night of the dance. Tickets are one sale now. We are asking everyone to bring finger foods to be shared by all.
February 6 is the Family Involvement Chapter Night hosted by Chairman Maggie Ritzschke. We will be having a "Give Me Five" Fundraiser on February 24. That will also be our Fundraiser for the last Fridays in the months of March and April. This is the last year for this particular project.
Well it is hard to believe it is already time for nominations for the 2012-2013 officers. Our Nominating Committee will be meeting on February 6, February 20 and February 27. If you are interested in running for an office, please submit your name so you can get on the ballot.
On February 27 we will have our Ways and Means Committee Chapter Night. Come out and enjoy the good food and fun. There is always lots of fun going on at the Moose, so come on out and join in. Plant a Seed and Watch it Grow and Create Some Interest!!!

We are into the final stretch of the Lodge year. April 30 is the end of the Lodge year and we have a lot of things to do. We need to enroll new members so the Shreveport Lodge can make its Quota Award. To help us along, Moose International has waived the $20.00 application fee until April 30, 2012. This is a great deal for new members. You can sign them up for $50.00. You can also sign up eligible members into the Legion for $15.00. In other words, just one year's dues. Please help us by inviting your friends to join so they too can enjoy the fellowship and fun of the Shreveport Lodge. The sooner you sign up a new member it will get them in with plenty of time to sign up their friends.
The last two months I have explained about the Lodge nomination process for new officers for our Lodge. The time is NOW! It is up to you to chart the future of your Lodge. We are in rough seas with the economy and need a steady and dedicated group to keep your Lodge off the rocks and on course to success and growth. So come out and step up into the leadership of your Lodge. We are waiting for you. I do not know anything else to say except, "STAND UP AND BE COUNTED!"
As always, see you around the Lodge.
